Research Associate in Sustainable Grassland Management

Position Overview: This role provides an opportunity to engage in a significant research initiative aimed at formulating resilient and sustainable grassland management practices to achieve environmental targets. The project collaborates with academic institutions, research entities, and industry stakeholders, focusing on transforming grassland ecosystems for enhanced sustainability, improved soil health, biodiversity, and economic viability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments on the nutritional benefits of alternative forage options for ruminants, including multispecies and legume-rich varieties.
- Design and implement experimental protocols, manage animal trials, and collect and analyze biological samples.
- Perform data collation and statistical evaluations, alongside conducting comprehensive literature reviews.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate research findings effectively.
- Oversee research timelines, foster collaboration with peers and stakeholders, and facilitate project meetings.
- Manage administrative tasks such as record-keeping, budget oversight, and regulatory compliance.
- Engage in knowledge dissemination activities and contribute to the academic community and public outreach.
- Participate in professional development, continuous learning, and networking opportunities.
- Contribute to the supervision and teaching of students in relevant animal science subjects.
Qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant field or nearing completion.
- Demonstrated interest in animal nutrition, livestock production, and environmental sustainability.
- Experience working with animals in research settings, including data collection and laboratory analysis.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis using mixed-effects and multivariate models.
- Track record of writing and publishing research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Knowledge of ruminant nutrition and physiology, particularly regarding feed efficiency and methane emissions.
- Experience with large animal trials and data analysis.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to travel for research purposes.
