Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Traffic Operations Manager to join our team at Culina Group. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our drivers, ensuring efficient and effective transportation operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor the daily activities of drivers to achieve set targets and ensure smooth operations.
  • Control costs by managing nights out and monitoring parking locations.
  • Investigate revenue and cost targets, and ensure accurate allocation of revenue.
  • Approve daily hours checks and timesheets.
  • Ensure accurate costs on running sheets and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Take responsibility for containers left on wheels in yards, ensuring exports meet vessel schedules and empties are returned on time.
  • Coordinate pickup legs and move containers into relevant planning screens.
  • Ensure containers are returned to quay or depot before detention is incurred.
  • Coordinate vehicle and information placement on backloads.
  • Identify opportunities to increase profitability through one-way, tip, and reload operations.
  • Communicate with drivers and provide weekend overtime shifts to the planner by the end of each week.
  • Monitor driver cover sheets for changes.
  • Ensure drivers are trained to use specialized equipment.
  • Verify jobs do not exceed legal weight requirements.
  • Ensure all ATA, ATD, ETA, and trailer numbers are in Truckcom.
  • Set override dates correctly to ensure sub-contractor trailer reports are accurate.
  • Monitor ETA's and enter late advisories at least 30 minutes before booking time.
  • Send demurrage warnings after 2 hours on site.
  • Ensure all vehicles are routed and drivers are aware of their jobs and start times.
  • Log on and use the Truckcom app for all OV's and sub-contractors.
  • Follow service and MOT schedules.
  • Stay up-to-date on driver legal working hours and update knowledge with internal training as needed.
  • Build positive relationships with drivers to ensure a content workforce.

Requirements

  • Oversee, manage, and monitor daily activities of allocated drivers.
  • Stay current with relevant legislation and ensure regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.
  • Make decisions in the best interests of the company and clients, elevating issues to the line manager when necessary.
  • Promote a company culture that encourages high morale and top performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Minimize operation expenditure within the business.
  • Understand and comply with the Health, Safety, and Environment Policy.
  • Set a personal example with respect to health and safety.
  • Be an effective team player.
  • Be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and all in-house systems.
  • Be able to question, challenge, and improve existing processes.
