Key Responsibilities:

  • Allocate drivers to routes and vehicles to ensure efficient deployment of manpower and achievement of contractual delivery times.
  • Ensure all administrative traffic duties are carried out accurately and professionally.
  • Liaise with line managers to minimize costs and ensure effective use of hire vehicles and sub-contractors.
  • Ensure details of vehicle accidents are escalated to line managers.
  • Ensure defected vehicles are recorded on traffic sheets.
  • Ensure procedure for damaged deliveries is followed where necessary.
  • Achieve weekly and monthly KPIs as set by the business and/or Customer Service Level Agreements.
  • Use IT-based systems, including Paragon and Mi-Sharp, to deliver role effectively.
  • Ensure communication methods are used to provide information to internal and external customers as required.
  • Ensure all traffic planning activity is undertaken in line with legislative requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Health & Safety requirements.
  • Support management team in development of other colleagues.
  • Demonstrate Company Values in undertaking of role.
  • Undertake any other reasonable task as required.
  • Undertake relevant training events in line with personal development needs and business requirements.

Requirements:

  • CPC* desirable
  • Working knowledge of driver hours regulations
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
  • Financial understanding
  • Operational understanding of team roles
  • Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work under pressure and react quickly to customer requirements
  • Effective Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to take a creative approach to problem solving
  • Previous experience within a transport/logistics organisation
  • Experience of managing conflicting priorities in a fast-moving environment
