Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Handy Person to join our team. As a Handy Person, you will be responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure our properties are well-maintained and safe for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure properties are well-maintained and safe for guests
  • Support the hostel team in delivering an excellent customer experience by ensuring fixtures and fittings are in good working order
  • Paint and decorate bedrooms and public areas, including mixing paints, matching colors, preparing surfaces, and applying paint
  • Coordinate larger cyclical maintenance in conjunction with our central property team and the hostel manager
  • Perform basic repairs, plumbing repairs, and other tasks as required

Requirements:

  • Experience of painting and decorating is a requirement for this role
  • City and Guilds NVQ2 in Maintenance Operations or equivalent is desirable
  • Proven experience of repair and maintenance duties and tasks
  • Experience of completing risk assessments to ensure maintenance tasks are undertaken safely
  • Experienced in the use of hardware tools (hand and power tools)
  • Basic understanding of electrical safety and plumbing
  • Competent decorating skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to read and understand instructions
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills
  • Well-organized, with the ability to solve problems
  • Ability to adhere to health and safety guidelines
  • Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of Vacancy Filler is desirable
  • Proficient in basic IT skills
