Assistant Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team at Farmfoods. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our shop, working closely with the Shop Manager to ensure the smooth running of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Shop Manager in the overall management of the shop, including staff supervision, customer service, and stock control.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve sales, customer satisfaction, and team performance.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of retail assistants, providing coaching, mentoring, and feedback to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Take ownership of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, ensuring that customers are looked after, deliveries are processed efficiently, and shop routines are completed to maintain a safe, clean, and tidy environment.
  • Monitor and control operational costs, including shrinkage, waste, and payroll, to ensure the shop is operating within budget.
Requirements:
  • A friendly, positive, and hardworking approach to work, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience as a manager, team leader, or supervisor, with a proven track record of success in a retail environment.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings, to meet the needs of the business.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
