Employee Relations Consultant

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for an Employee Relations Consultant to become a vital part of our team.
This position is integral to our HR Transformation initiative, aimed at preparing the organization for significant growth and advancement. We are in the process of establishing a vibrant and innovative people and culture framework; this role will be essential in shaping this new environment.
The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in managing diverse and intricate cases to resolution. We seek an individual who is enthusiastic about our sector, our clients, and, most importantly, our workforce. You will take charge of case management, offering online and telephonic support and advice to our stakeholders regarding HR policies and procedures, including the application of employment legislation, standard operational practices, and established policies. You will employ risk-assessed strategies to provide an outstanding HR service.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer first-level support, specialized advice, and interpretation of HR policies and practices to colleagues and managers, particularly concerning employee relations activities, ensuring they understand the business approach and their responsibilities within various processes.
- Ensure that employee relations cases are handled promptly and professionally within a specified service level agreement.
- Maintain engagement and encourage managers to foster a positive workplace atmosphere, aligning with our mission to make Bidvest Noonan an exceptional place to work.
- Address disputes effectively, including utilizing mediation when necessary.
- Equip managers with the skills to navigate people-management challenges and interpret policies fairly and effectively.
- Contribute to the timely completion of regular and customized management information, providing insights into trends and findings, and fulfilling various management reporting requirements for senior leadership.
- Deliver coaching, case insights, and training to managers regarding HR matters, adhering to best practices and employment legislation.
- Establish trusted and credible relationships with leaders and HR teams to provide specialized employee relations advice and solutions for cases, ensuring follow-through to resolution and tracking advice in the Employee Relations Case Management system.
- Exhibit sound judgment, providing balanced advice based on risk assessment that drives commercially viable outcomes aligned with our core values.
- Collaborate with the Employment Law Advisor, leading all litigation and settlement agreement strategies to achieve resolution.
- Support key employee relations projects, including updates to HR policies, wellbeing initiatives, and occupational health matters.
- Act as the employee relations expert in critical business practices, identifying risks and providing feedback to enhance line manager capabilities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant HR experience at an appropriate level within a diverse and fast-paced organization.
- Knowledge and/or experience in employment legislation, with a comprehensive understanding of the Employment Tribunal System.
- Experience managing Industrial Relations situations involving union representatives.
