Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our dynamic team.

In this crucial role, you will play a vital part in providing comprehensive mental health care to young people within an inpatient, liaison, or acute setting. Your expertise will contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and formulation of individualized care plans, ensuring the well-being and recovery of our service users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage risk by implementing robust accident/incident reporting, assessment, and control procedures. Ensure all residual risks are documented in the Trust register.
  • Contribute to a supportive learning environment by providing both formal and informal training to nursing and allied-health students and staff.

Essential Requirements:

  • Possess a relevant professional qualification as a Social Worker (SW) or Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience within an inpatient, liaison, or acute mental health multi-professional, multi-agency environment.
  • Exhibit proven skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and formulating aspects of mental health care and risk management.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983/2007, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and the legislative framework of the Children Act 1989.
  • Have supervisory experience.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Training in therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, or family interventions.
  • Educated to a Masters level or equivalent level of experience.
  • A teaching qualification.
  • Experience working within a CAMHS environment and/or with complex high-risk young people in a multicultural framework.
  • Medications management (For SW & OT).

Skills:

  • Enhanced knowledge of children's safeguarding practices.
  • Ability to resolve difficulties affecting working relationships and provide ongoing support to staff, service users, and carers.
  • Capacity to explore emotionally demanding aspects of the role with appropriate staff in both managerial and clinical supervision, as well as in team meetings and informal work-related support systems.
  • Evidence of complex case management.
  • Extensive IT skills, including proficiency in electronic client records, intranet, shared drives, databases, Word, and Excel packages.
