Position Overview

Are you passionate about delivering Speech and Language Therapy to individuals facing challenges with swallowing and communication due to oncological conditions? This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team within a well-established oncology and head & neck cancer service.

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will engage in outpatient clinics, acute care, and specialized assessments, contributing to the rehabilitation and voice restoration of patients.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be integral to the Speech and Language Therapy team, managing a diverse patient population primarily in outpatient settings, with some inpatient responsibilities. Your duties will include:

  • Evaluating and treating patients with communication and swallowing disorders in outpatient environments, including specialized clinics
  • Providing care for individuals with head and neck cancer at various stages of their treatment
  • Utilizing specialized assessments and techniques such as nasendoscopy, FEES, and VFS
  • Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care
  • Contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives
  • Mentoring junior staff and students
  • Adapting to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A recognized degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Membership with the RCSLT and registration with the HCPC
  • Experience in managing adult dysphagia and head and neck oncology cases
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in training and mentoring junior colleagues
