Overview:

Brightsmith | B Corp™ is seeking a motivated and creative Associate Electrochemist to enhance our team. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with the lead Electrochemical Engineer to expedite the advancement of innovative technologies. Our pioneering approach integrates geomimicry with electrochemical methods, aiming to boost both the efficiency and scalability of carbon capture and sequestration efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and refine electrochemical systems to enhance their performance and effectiveness.
  • Investigate and assess water electrolyser designs, electrode materials, and operational parameters for large-scale implementation.
  • Apply process control methodologies to enhance electrolyser functionality.
  • Perform experiments utilizing electrochemical characterization techniques to confirm designs and evaluate performance metrics.
  • Explore electrode materials to achieve cost-effective and superior performance.
  • Work alongside the Electrochemical Engineer on experimental research initiatives.
  • Assist in transitioning electrochemical processes from laboratory settings to commercial applications.
  • Draft technical documentation and presentations for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee your research and development projects to ensure they are completed on schedule.
  • Support supplier evaluations by assessing materials and components for electrochemical applications.
  • Identify avenues for innovation and enhancements in processes.
  • Uphold rigorous safety protocols in process design and the management of hazardous substances.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team to diagnose and resolve process-related challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Preferably 3 years of experience in the design and optimization of water electrolysers.
  • Preferably 3 years of experience in electrode chemistry and performance evaluation.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in electrode characterization, electro-catalysis, water electrolysis (HER and OER), and the development of electrochemical technologies.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and adherence to safe laboratory practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Able to function effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
