About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Electrochemist to join our team at Brightsmith | B Corp™, motivated to reverse climate change and help us scale the water electrolyser technology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electrochemical processes and characterisation, with a focus on water electrolysis and selection of electrode materials. You will collaborate closely with our Electrochemical Engineer, playing a crucial role in the design and acceleration of the technology development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Optimise the electrochemical components, focusing on the performance efficiency and scalability.
- Conduct research on the architecture and key parameters of our proprietary water electrolyser, with a focus on improving efficiency and reducing costs.
- Implement process control strategies to enhance electrolyser operation, ensuring efficiency, quality, and reliability.
- Conduct experiments to validate process design and assess electrode/system performance, focusing on electrochemical characterisation and optimisation.
- Focus on the design and scale of the electrochemical processes from lab to pilot/commercial scale, ensuring seamless transition and minimal disruption.
- Support supplier management activities, including evaluating materials/components for electrochemical processes, to ensure compliance and quality.
- Prepare technical reports, white papers, and presentations to communicate results and progress to the team and stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including material scientists, process engineers, and other engineers to troubleshoot and resolve process issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Bring passion to fight climate change, and develop a company culture of inclusive innovation valuing sustainable work practices and environmental responsibility.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in water electrolyser design, development, and optimisation.
- Advanced knowledge and experimental experience on electrode characterisation, electro-catalysis, water electrolysis (HER and OER), and electrochemical technology development.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and conducting safe laboratory practice.
