About Us:

Brightsmith | B Corp™ is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Associate Electrochemist to enhance our innovative team. In this role, you will work closely with a senior Electrochemical Engineer to drive advancements in technology. Our pioneering approach merges geomimicry with electrochemistry, aiming to expedite the efficiency and scale of carbon capture and sequestration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and refine electrochemical components to boost efficiency and performance.
  • Investigate and assess water electrolyser designs, electrode materials, and operational parameters for scalability and market readiness.
  • Apply process control methodologies to enhance electrolyser functionality.
  • Perform experiments utilizing electrochemical characterization techniques to validate designs and evaluate performance metrics.
  • Explore electrode materials to achieve cost-effective and superior performance outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Electrochemical Engineer on experimental research initiatives.
  • Assist in transitioning electrochemical processes from laboratory settings to commercial applications.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and presentations for team members and stakeholders.
  • Oversee your research and development projects to ensure timely completion.
  • Support supplier relations by assessing materials and components for electrochemical applications.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for innovation and process enhancements.
  • Uphold stringent safety protocols in process design and the management of hazardous substances.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 3 years of experience in the design and optimization of water electrolysers.
  • Roughly 3 years of experience in electrode chemistry and performance evaluation.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in electrode characterization, electro-catalysis, water electrolysis (HER and OER), and the development of electrochemical technologies.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and adherence to safe laboratory practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
