About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pension Administrator to join our Pensions Team at Royal Mail. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely payment of pension benefits to our members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Team Leader with the review and sign-off of each payroll run to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to payroll administrators on complex cases and key learning points.
  • Act as an escalation point for member queries and complaints related to payroll and pensions.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll team.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Team to ensure the delivery of a professional and customer-focused service.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a professional payroll practitioner with a strong understanding of payroll and HMRC rules and regulations.
  • Experience of developing, leading, and motivating a team and delivering a professional service within a structured commercial framework.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to engage effectively at all levels, both internal and external to Royal Mail.
  • Demonstrably strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to assimilate complex information and translate it into easily understandable language.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills, including experience of delivering to demanding timescales and working flexibly to meet stakeholder and customer requirements.
  • English Language and Mathematics at GCSE/A Level.
  • Possess or be willing to study for a professional payroll qualification via a Workplace Pensions Apprenticeship scheme.
