Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Student Services Advisor to provide comprehensive support and guidance to learners, improving their likelihood of successful completion of their program and progression into further education, training, and/or employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic support to learners, tailored to their individual needs, in close liaison with students, staff, and external organizations.
  • Work collaboratively with students, staff, and external organizations to safeguard learners and support them in achieving their full potential.
  • Develop and deliver student workshops or tutorials to a diverse range of students, promoting engagement and re-engagement with education or training.
  • Conduct support plans and produce risk assessments, ensuring the well-being and safety of learners.
  • Lead on safeguarding cases, working closely with the local authority on child in need and child protection plans.
  • Utilize successful strategies to re-engage disengaged or disaffected learners, promoting their successful transition from pre to post-16 education.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with learners, staff, and external organizations, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of student support services, ensuring they are responsive to the needs of learners.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience of working in a safeguarding capacity with young people, with a strong understanding of safeguarding legislations and practices in education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with a wide range of customers.
  • Experience of delivering student workshops or tutorials to a diverse range of students, with a strong understanding of post-16 education services and the issues that transition from pre to post-16 education may have for young people or those that have been out of education for a while.
  • A Level 4 IAG qualification or another appropriate area (Youth & Community, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care) is desirable.
