This is a 12-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity working within the new state-of-the-art Theatres and Day Surgery department at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and supervise a team of 3 staff to provide an efficient, confidential reception and admin support service to the Theatre and Day Surgery staff.
- Print theatre lists, amend theatre slots, and patients' details, while liaising with wards, clinical staff, and waiting list team to book patients.
- Provide cover for the reception between the hours of 6:30 am and 17:00 on a shared rota basis.
- Manage and supervise the theatre admin and day surgery reception staff to ensure reception cover and support is provided between the hours of 6:30 and 17:00.
- Meet and greet patients and visitors arriving for surgery, answer calls from internal and external customers, and proactively prepare and order theatre lists and consent information.
- Book patients onto the electronic patient records system and add ad hoc and emergency patients to theatre lists.
- Supervisory tasks include staff rostering, management of sickness and holiday absence, conducting appraisals and regular 1:1s with a view to developing the staff and team.
- Allocate work and training and support to staff, and provide an admin support service to the Theatre Managers.
County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, and Weardale, as well as over 80 other community-based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
