National Teaching Assistant Programme

In partnership with local educational establishments, we are excited to introduce our National Teaching Assistant Programme, aimed at individuals aspiring to embark on a career as a Teaching Assistant.

Training and Experience

Working closely with our partner schools, we will offer the selected Trainee Teaching Assistant comprehensive training along with paid practical experience.

Upon successful completion of the interview process and following necessary suitability, safeguarding, and identity verifications, we will assist in securing a paid position within a school to further enhance your skills.

Before commencing your placement, you will need to participate in a training program designed to equip you with the essential competencies required for the Teaching Assistant role.

The Role of a Teaching Assistant

The Teaching Assistant position is crucial for the effective operation of educational institutions. The most effective Teaching Assistants possess strong communication abilities and can quickly establish positive relationships with both students and staff.

Depending on the specific role and educational setting, you will collaborate with the class teacher to manage student behavior, support intervention strategies, and provide additional assistance to children with SEND.

You will also aid the class teacher in documenting and reporting on student progress and behavior, ensuring that all children are achieving their potential in the classroom.

Candidate Requirements

To qualify for the National Teaching Assistant Programme, candidates should:

  • Be capable of fostering positive relationships with children and young individuals.
  • Exhibit a passion for improving educational outcomes for children and young people.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, proactivity, and teamwork.
  • Recognize the critical importance of safeguarding children and young individuals.
  • Possess personal experience working with children, which does not necessarily need to be in a school environment.

Additionally, candidates should be prepared to articulate their motivation for pursuing a career in education during the interview and demonstrate an understanding of the Teaching Assistant's role and its significance within the school community.

Commitment to completing the required training and engaging in ongoing professional development is essential.

Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service is also required.

Commitment to Safeguarding

ABC Teachers is dedicated to the safeguarding of children, young individuals, and vulnerable adults. All staff members will undergo thorough interview and reference checks and must hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check registered with the Update Service.
