We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team on Laurel 2 Oncology, a 17-bed inpatient unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to patients with a range of cancers receiving systemic anti-cancer therapies.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with washing and dressing patients, using hoists as appropriate.
- Support with serving meals and feeding patients, including reporting on their intake and recording on charts as necessary.
- Assist with toileting, escorting patients to and from the lavatory, and recording outputs where necessary.
- Monitor patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations, and weight.
- Assist with patients' mobilization, ensuring a safe environment and using appropriate techniques.
- Make beds and help maintain a clean, tidy, and safe ward environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives with care and compassion.
- Support patients in maintaining their comfort and receiving personalized care.
- Be involved in patient booking in/admission, introducing patients to the ward area as directed by the registered nurse.
- Assist with the recording and safekeeping of patients' property and valuables.
- Support the multi-professional team in preparing and supporting patients undergoing treatment and/or investigation, maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.
- Safeguard vulnerable adults.
- Report to the nurse in charge of the ward matters of concern relating to patients and the ward environment.
- Undertake duties outside your working area to assist in maintaining good communication.
- Basic standard of education, including Maths and English.
- Desirable: NVQ 2 in Care Certificate.
- Experience of working in a patient care setting or customer-facing environment.
- Desirable: Experience of working within a healthcare setting/nursing home or as a Healthcare Assistant.
