SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role
The Aurora Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Aurora Brooklands School. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the children with their learning and general wellbeing, ensuring every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities to support the children's academic and personal growth.
- Provide meaningful feedback on pupil attainment and progress, helping to identify areas for improvement and celebrating successes.
- Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing, recording, and reporting pupils' progress, adhering to the school's policies and procedures.
- Support positive behaviour and concentration levels of the children, adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of each child.
- Promote spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, as well as British values, within the PSHE policy across the school.
- Promote pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual wellbeing through a whole-day curriculum.
Requirements
- Experience working with SEN in an employed or voluntary setting.
- A full UK driving licence is essential, as you will be required to transport pupils to and from school and engage in off-site enrichment activities.
- Working towards a Level 2 award in Support work in schools or an equivalent is desirable.
- GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above qualification is essential.
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Knowledge or experience of pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
- Commitment to the role, a desire to put the child first, and treat them as an individual.
- Be positive and creative in meeting pupils' needs.
