About the Role

The Aurora Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Aurora Brooklands School. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of our students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities to ensure a tailored approach to each student's needs.
  • Provide meaningful feedback on pupil attainment and progress, and support the teacher in monitoring, assessing, recording, and reporting pupils' progress.
  • Support the teacher in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment, and adapt your behavior and responses to meet the changing needs of the students.
  • Promote spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, and British values within the PSHE policy across the whole school.
  • Promote pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioral, physical development, and spiritual well-being through a whole-day curriculum.

Requirements

  • Experience working with SEN in an employed or voluntary setting.
  • A full UK driving license is essential, as you will be required to transport pupils to and from school and engage in off-site enrichment activities.
  • Working towards a Level 2 award in Support Work in Schools or an equivalent is desirable.
  • GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above qualification is essential.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience of pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
  • Commitment to the role, a desire to put the child first, and treat them as an individual.
  • Be positive and creative in meeting pupils' needs.
