About the Role

The National Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Collections and House Officer to join our team at Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum. As a Collections and House Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care and presentation of our collections and historic house.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the daily operations of the house, including opening and closing procedures, and ensuring a consistently high standard of visitor experience.
  • Conduct routine conservation and preventive conservation activities to maintain the integrity and preservation of our collections and historic house.
  • Collaborate with the Collections team to develop and deliver a changeable and exciting program for visitors across both sites.
  • Work with the Programming and Partnerships Officer to develop and deliver a range of activities and events that enhance the visitor experience.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of cleaning and housekeeping activities, and use this information to improve our knowledge and understanding of the house and its collections.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in collections care and management, with a strong understanding of conservation principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, visitors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and delivering high-quality results.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and protocols, with the ability to maintain a safe working environment.
