Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neonatal Nurse to join our team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Senior Neonatal Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Neonatal Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and develop care plans for neonatal patients, working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Take charge of the Neonatal Unit on a regular basis, coordinating shifts and providing clinical leadership to staff.
  • Participate in practice development and create a learning environment that promotes excellence in neonatal care.
  • Provide clinical, educational, and emotional support to parents and carers.
  • Deputise for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence, providing clear clinical leadership and guidance to staff.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RGN/Midwife/Child) with NMC registration.
  • Neonatal Intensive Care qualification.
  • Current NLS certification.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification and/or mentorship module.
  • Safeguarding Children training (Level 1-3).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Certificate in leadership and management training.
  • Appraisal training.
  • Degree in Children's/Neonatal Nursing.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Depth of neonatal nursing knowledge, integrating theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of handling complaints and clinical incidents.
  • Knowledge of risk management and Health and Safety issues.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children.
  • Knowledge of audit processes, reporting, and action planning.
