Role Objective:
To assist the Health & Safety Manager in ensuring that project teams adhere to health and safety regulations, legislation, and policies, while effectively minimizing occupational hazards on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and support to designated project teams in executing the Bylor behavioral safety program.
- Offer robust health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) advice and coaching to project teams.
- Identify and assess hazards or deficiencies, prioritizing risks to facilitate effective communication and action plans.
- Conduct inspections and audits of projects, ensuring compliance with the monitoring program.
- Lead investigations and generate comprehensive reports that address root causes rather than just outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with the Bylor safety management systems (SMS) and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
- Assist project teams in identifying key HSE risks and developing appropriate solutions.
- Participate in HSE assessments of subcontractors and contribute to tender submissions.
- Utilize behavioral tools as part of a continuous improvement strategy.
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
Technical Skills:
- Proven experience in health and safety within a construction context.
- Understanding of environmental considerations to support the Bylor environmental initiatives.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate within a team environment.
- Capable of coaching teams on critical HSE project risks.
- Ability to engage with team members across various functions, fostering a unified approach.
- Exhibit a professional demeanor and promote the project's core values.
- Commitment to adhering to established processes.
- Focus on minimizing resource and material waste.
Education & Qualifications:
- Recognized qualifications in health, safety, and environment.
- NEBOSH certification.
Additional Information:
All roles within BYLOR are directly employed by either Laing O'Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Publics, offering competitive salaries, private medical insurance, pension schemes, and annual leave. Some positions may also include a vehicle allowance.
