About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our Electronics projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative electronics solutions that meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of complex electronics projects, including electro-mechanical mechanisms and precision machinery.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a small, mixed-discipline project design team.
  • Collaborate with the team to perform classical engineering analysis on designs, including stress, fatigue, and vibration using conventional analysis and computer simulation.
  • Perform lab testing for verification and conformance of design outputs to meet the design inputs.
  • Develop and maintain engineering reports to support new product designs, failure investigation, and other formal documentation.
  • Coordinate with wider engineering teams to integrate electronic, control, and drive systems into equipment designs.
  • Support the production, test, and field engineering teams, as well as the sales teams with bids and quotations.
  • Work with project managers and sales teams to provide time estimates for design activities and keep appraised of progress.
Requirements
  • Design of complex mechanisms and structures.
  • Lead role in system design from concept to production.
  • Load analysis and design for drive mechanisms and motor systems.
  • Knowledge of machining, casting, fabrication, and moulding.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (ideally SolidWorks).
  • Strong technical understanding and leadership in project design.

  • Designing for harsh environments.
  • Experience in Defence or related sectors (R&D, manufacturing).
  • Coaching and talent development.
  • Senior-level experience in small/medium-sized companies.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to gain UK government security clearance. To achieve this, you must hold British or dual nationality.
