Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our Electronics projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative electronics solutions that meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of complex electronics projects, including electro-mechanical mechanisms and precision machinery.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to a small, mixed-discipline project design team to produce high-quality design solutions.
  • Project Management: Coordinate with project managers and sales teams to provide time estimates for design activities and ensure timely delivery of outputs within defined deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the team to perform classical engineering analysis, lab testing, and verification of design outputs.
  • Documentation: Lead the creation of engineering reports, design documentation, and other formal documentation to support customer requirements.
  • Integration: Coordinate with wider engineering teams to integrate electronic, control, and drive systems into equipment designs.
  • Support: Provide support for the production, test, and field engineering teams, as well as the sales teams with bids and quotations.

Requirements:

  • Essential: Design of complex mechanisms and structures, lead role in system design from concept to production, load analysis and design for drive mechanisms and motor systems, knowledge of machining, casting, fabrication, and moulding, proficient in 3D CAD (ideally SolidWorks), strong technical understanding and leadership in project design.
  • Desirable: Designing for harsh environments, experience in Defence or related sectors (R&D, manufacturing), coaching and talent development, senior-level experience in small/medium-sized companies.

Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to gain UK government security clearance. To achieve this, you must hold British or dual nationality.
