This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy team at Tameside Council, responsible for the Council's statutory homelessness and housing needs service. The team is dedicated to providing support and solutions to individuals and families at risk of homelessness.

About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work as Homelessness Prevention Officers in the service, for a fixed term of 12 months. The successful candidates will be responsible for preventing and relieving homelessness, working closely with vulnerable individuals and families to secure suitable housing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide face-to-face services to individuals and families at risk of homelessness, including home visits and outreach work.
  • Work collaboratively with customers and partners to secure suitable housing solutions.
  • Participate in a duty rota to provide 24/7 support to individuals and families in need.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local partners and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service strategies and policies.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience of working with vulnerable individuals and families.Knowledge of current legislation and policies related to homelessness.Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with customers and partners.Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment.
