About the Role

Livewell Southwest CIC is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated CAMHS Community Mental Health Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our Neurodiversity team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist assessment and interventions for children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct holistic assessments for children and young people, working closely with the multi-agency network, including schools and social care.
  2. Join a Multi-disciplinary Team and work closely with other teams within the CAMHS service, holding a caseload of complex needs relating to the young person's neurodiversity or ongoing neurodiversity assessment and co-morbidity of mental health needs.
  3. Assess and risk manage cases, providing clinical lead to non-registered staff for delegated tasks, and deliver intervention within best evidence and to the highest possible standard.
  4. Contribute to the CAMHS Duty Rota, which operates on a daily basis.
  5. Play a role in encouraging and coordinating collaboration between all agencies by attending multi-agency meetings, such as multi-agency CAF meetings, child protection case conferences, education reviews, etc.
  6. Be available for and make use of clinical supervision, child protection supervision, and operational line management supervision.
  7. Develop excellent and effective communication skills, applicable to working with young people, their families, and professional systems, acting as a point of liaison between specialist CAMHS and universal services.
Person Specification

Essential Skills

  • Well-established case management skills and good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Competent assessment and intervention skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Health or Social Care.
  • Current Professional registration.
  • Evidence of continued professional development relevant to this field of care.

Desirable Skills

  • Postgraduate training in relevant topics, such as mental health, trauma, child development, learning disability, neurodiversity diagnosis.

Experience

  • Experience in assessment, including risk, care planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Experience of working within multi-agency safeguarding systems, such as child protection conferences, child in need meetings.
  • Experience of providing supervision/assessing and mentoring.
  • Experience of post-registration working with people who have experienced mental health difficulties.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and documents pertaining to children, such as the Children Act 2004, Child Protection, National Service Framework, Every Child Matters, etc.
  • Knowledge of a range of mental health problems and disorders affecting children and young people who are in care.
  • Knowledge of theories of child development and their application to practice.
