Job Title: Neurosurgery Physiotherapy Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Physiotherapy Team Lead to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Physiotherapy Team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Physiotherapy Team in the Neurosurgery department, providing clinical leadership and expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. The role will involve managing a caseload of patients with complex and/or chronic presentations, using advanced clinical reasoning skills to develop individual patient management, treatment, and discharge plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Physiotherapy Team in the Neurosurgery department, providing clinical leadership and expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with complex and/or chronic presentations, using advanced clinical reasoning skills to develop individual patient management, treatment, and discharge plans.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective management of patient care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of a coordinated multidisciplinary service.
  • Provide teaching, supervision, and appraisal of junior staff, and undergraduate students to ensure a high quality of clinical care within the specialty.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, including staff, unit, and grade meetings, as required.
Person Specification:

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Physiotherapist with:

  • BSc/MSc Physiotherapy qualification.
  • Member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist, with experience in acute Respiratory, MSK, acute Neuro, and surgical rotations.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Band 6 Physiotherapist, with experience in ITU Respiratory, Neuro, Trauma, and Ortho rotations.
  • Specialized experience in Neuro Sciences, with evidence of clinical expertise.
  • NHS experience.
  • Experience as a student educator.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Experience with HR policies.
