Main Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for covering both elective and emergency adult neurosurgery and spinal conditions, working on wards, theatres, ICU/HDU, and emergency department. The SHO on-call rota is 1:7, and the individual will be working with highly motivated nursing, therapy, and pharmacy teams.

About the Department

The South East Neurosurgery/Spinal surgery unit consists of 9 Neurosurgical and 4 spinal consultants, with a medical team including 11 registrars, 7 SHO level doctors, 1-2 Foundation year doctor(s), and 2 Advance Clinical Practitioners (ACP). The department is based in the new Louisa Martindale Building, providing state-of-the-art facilities including 3 dedicated neuro/spinal theatres with intra-operative MRI facilities, a brand new Neurointerventional angiography suite, O-arm, 3 Neuro-navigation systems, CT/MRI facilities near neuro-theatres, and multiple MDT rooms.

Requirements
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
  • Higher Degree
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
