Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

NHS Scotland is dedicated to fostering equality and diversity within our workforce while eliminating any form of unlawful discrimination. Our goal is to create a workforce that is genuinely representative, ensuring that every employee feels valued and empowered to perform at their best. Therefore, we encourage applications from all segments of society.

The Cancer Patient Pathway Coordinator will collaborate with various clinical and administrative personnel within one or more of our cancer multidisciplinary teams in the Surgical Directorate. The successful candidate will also be required to provide coverage during periods of annual leave or illness.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Engaging closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team and relevant clerical staff to ensure the efficient movement and tracking of cancer patients and those with potential cancer diagnoses throughout their journey from referral onward.
  • Identifying any obstacles to individual patient pathways and/or potential breaches of waiting time guarantees, escalating these issues to the appropriate management in line with local policies.
  • Facilitating the collection, analysis, and presentation of audit data, capturing essential data points to aid in monitoring patient care.
  • Coordinating regular multidisciplinary team meetings (MDMs) for patients diagnosed with cancer to ensure that each patient's journey is seamless and effectively managed, with pertinent data available for discussion during these meetings.
  • Providing administrative support to the Specialist Nurse team.

NHS Scotland is committed to promoting equality and diversity within our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. Our aim is to ensure that our workforce is truly representative and that every employee feels respected and able to give their best. We welcome applications from all sections of society.

This position requires the successful candidate to possess a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the candidate is not currently a PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e., child and/or adult), an application must be submitted to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before commencing in the role.
