Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nurse to join our team as a Ward Leader for our Trauma and Surgical Ward. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing expert care to patients and their families, while also leading and developing the nursing team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Lead and develop the nursing team to deliver high-quality patient care
    • Collaborate with the ward consultant and service manager to drive forward quality and excellent patient care
    • Ensure staff management is safe, effective, and within the assigned budget
  • Clinical Practice
    • Account for one's own professional practice in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
    • Ensure accurate records are maintained reflecting changes in the patient's condition and treatment delivered
    • Ensure practice is evidence-based and support the development of policies and protocols within the clinical area
  • Person Specification
    • 1st level Registered Nurse
    • 1st Degree
    • Demonstrate clinical expertise and relevant expertise to the trauma/surgical specialty
    • Demonstrate interest in and commitment to the professional development of others
    • Safeguarding adults and children
    • Team building and working skills - able to lead a team to achieve results
    • Leadership training
    • An understanding of nursing issues in relation to finance management
