Job Overview

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced children's nurse to fill a Ward Leader position in one of our paediatric inpatient wards. As a key member of the nursing team, you will be responsible for setting standards and qualities in the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

Main Duties
  • Ensure continuity of patient care through effective staff deployment.
  • Develop and implement effective discharge planning to meet individual patient needs.
  • Manage the ward's education and staff training budget to support the Trust's corporate objectives.
  • Provide a high-quality clinical learning environment for pre-registration nursing students and continuing professional development.
  • Lead, coach, and manage the performance of the team to achieve excellence and address underperformance.
Person Specification
  • Current NMC Part 1 (Child) registration.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a supervisory/team leader context.
  • Recognised teaching/mentoring qualification.
  • Evidence of developing innovative practice and managing change.
