Are you an experienced Driver Operations Manager or Transport Manager looking to make a significant impact? In collaboration with the Distribution Site Lead, you will be an integral part of the Management team, inspiring and leading a talented group of Team Managers. Your responsibilities will include budget management and the formulation and execution of driver operations strategies.

At our Wednesbury facility, we are at the forefront of growth and innovation within the industry.

Key Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in distribution management
  • Proficient in SAP, particularly the ERP module
  • Familiarity with distribution systems, processes, and regulations including Operator Licence, Tachograph, and WTD
  • Transport Management CPC certification

Role Overview

We are embarking on a journey of innovation and continuous improvement, where you will lead your team to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of products to our customers and sites nationwide. Teamwork is paramount, as you will manage a group of Driver Operations Team Managers overseeing approximately 70 Class 2 Drivers across 40 routes and 40 Class 1 Primary Drivers.

This role requires daily collaboration with the Warehouse and Distribution management teams to coordinate the collection and delivery of products, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and that deliveries are completed on time while upholding customer service standards.

With your extensive experience, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement, maintain budget oversight, and ensure the fleet of vehicles is managed in compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements.

Our Wednesbury Bakery and Distribution depot is situated in the heart of the Black Country, where our dedicated workforce forms the backbone of our operations. With nearly 25 years of service, we take pride in our loyal and committed team. Currently, we employ nearly 400 colleagues who ensure that our freshly baked products reach families across the UK every day.

We produce and distribute over 2 million loaves of bread weekly, adhering to high standards of health, safety, and sustainability, and operate our own mini power generating plant to provide combined heat and power to the bakery. Wednesbury is renowned as the Home of the Tiger Bloomer.

As 'the UK's No. 1 Bakery Brand', we have been baking bread since 1876. Today, we are a sixth-generation family business, serving over 18,000 retail customers from 11 bakeries and 16 depots, with a diverse range of over 70 products, including gluten and wheat-free options.
