Associate Director of Development - College of Arts and Sciences

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director of Development to join its College of Arts and Sciences team. This key role will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure major and mid-level gifts from a defined portfolio of prospects. The successful candidate will work closely with development and alumni staff, as well as faculty members, to maximize philanthropic efforts and achieve established metrics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain relationships with high net-worth prospects and donors
  • Develop and implement effective fundraising strategies to meet annual goals
  • Collaborate with the College of Arts and Sciences Dean and Senior Director of Development to engage with members of the college and develop fundraising strategies
  • Work with key volunteers and board members to increase engagement and fundraising efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of fundraising or equivalent experience
  • Strong networking and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work efficiently within CRM systems
  • Advanced fundraising skills, including qualifying, potential solicitations, and overcoming objections
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Budget management
  • Knowledge of higher education endowment practices
  • Portfolio development and management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasively
