Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented IT Support Specialist to join our team at QA. As an Apprentice IT Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support to our staff, students, and parents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and Maintain IT Infrastructure: Ensure the smooth operation of our IT systems, including hardware and software, to support our educational goals.
  • Provide Technical Support: Offer first-line support to our staff, students, and parents through various communication channels, including face-to-face, phone, and email.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Investigate, analyze, and resolve technical problems with ICT equipment and systems, implementing repairs as necessary and updating relevant ticketing systems.
  • Document and Maintain Records: Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and in line with departmental processes.
  • Inventory Management: Accurately maintain the Trust's IT hardware and software inventory.
  • Support Out-of-Hours Events: Participate in out-of-hours events on a rota basis to ensure seamless support.
  • Perform Additional Duties: Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Senior Technician to support the team's objectives.
Requirements:
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems: Familiarity with Microsoft products, especially the latest version of Office.
  • Basic Knowledge of IT Hardware: Understanding of PC's, laptops, projectors, printers, interactive devices, and mobile devices.
  • Willingness to Learn: A willingness to learn new skills and understand new technologies.
  • Good Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and numeracy skills.
Desirable Skills:
  • Interest in Computer Hardware: An interest in computer hardware, especially PC and Apple.
  • Interest in Mobile Device Software: An interest in mobile device software and its applications in an educational environment.
  • Interest in Networking Technologies: An interest in networking technologies and protocols.
  • Organizational Skills: Good organizational and time management skills.
Entry Requirements:
  • GCSEs: 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject.
  • GCSE Maths and English: GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above).
  • Existing Qualifications: Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject.
Working Arrangements:

We offer a 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm, with flexible working arrangements.
