Job Title: SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and welcoming special needs school in the South Tyneside area. As a SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with SEN/SEMH needs, ensuring their individual learning plans are followed
  • Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and positive learning environment
  • Help students develop essential social and emotional skills
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support as required
  • Encourage student engagement and participation in lessons
Requirements
  • Previous experience working within a SEN/SEMH setting is essential
  • A positive and patient approach to supporting children with complex needs
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to the needs of the school
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
