About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to support the learning of pupils with varied Special Educational Needs (SEN) in one of our excellent Primary Schools in South Shields.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Class Teacher to plan and deliver inspiring learning activities tailored to the needs and learning style of pupils.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, and PMLD
  • Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and developing strategies to promote positive relationships
  • Working alongside the Class Teacher to plan and deliver engaging learning activities
  • Developing an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of pupils within the classroom
  • Supporting across the School at breaktimes and lunchtimes as required
About the School

The role is based in an inspirational Primary School in South Shields, offering opportunities to support pupils across the School from EYFS-Year 6.

The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work collaboratively to provide high standards of support to pupils.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
  • Experience of working with children in Schools in the UK
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Ability to drive and access to a car (desired)
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references that cover the last two years
