Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant PRU

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Prospero Teaching. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) setting.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individualized support to pupils with SEN, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

You will work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans, ensuring that pupils receive the support they need to access the curriculum.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with pupils with SEN, be able to build positive relationships, and have a proactive and resilient approach to supporting challenging behavior.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Manage challenging behavior in a positive and consistent manner
  • Differentiate learning to suit the needs and learning styles of pupils
  • Build positive relationships with class teachers and other support staff
  • Have a hands-on approach to supporting children in their learning
Requirements:
  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service)
  • A childcare-based qualification (desirable)
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Experience in classrooms supporting students
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfill their potential and flourish in education
