Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team in a PRU in South Shields. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour, ensuring they engage with their learning and make excellent progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with challenging behaviour and SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive, and consistent manner.
  • Build positive relationships with Class Teachers to support pupils and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities.
  • Prepare resources for lessons.
  • Supervise pupils at break times and lunch times as required.
Requirements:
  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service).
  • A recognised Childcare-based qualification (although not essential).
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature.
  • Experience in classrooms supporting students (although not essential).
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
