About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to support the learning of pupils in our inspirational SEN School in South Shields. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping pupils with challenging behaviour and varying SEN to engage with their learning and make progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, adapting your approach to meet the diverse needs of each individual.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work closely with Class Teachers and colleagues to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of pupils, ensuring effective support and progress.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and resilient school culture, promoting the well-being and success of all pupils.
Requirements
  • A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
  • Experience of working with children in schools in the UK
  • Experience within an SEN School or PRU Setting (desired)
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references that cover the last two years
