The University of Edinburgh is seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Fellow in AI for Circuits and Systems Design Automation to join our esteemed team within the UKRI APRIL AI Hub.

This prestigious hub, one of nine nationally funded by UKRI, aims to revolutionize semiconductor technologies, microchip designs, and system architectures through cutting-edge AI tools. Our goal is to accelerate innovation, leading to faster, more efficient, and sustainable electronics.

As a key member of this collaborative research endeavor, you will play a pivotal role in developing novel AI capabilities, tools, and methodologies that empower engineers to design, develop, and test advanced electronic devices and systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in integrating AI into commercially available circuit design tools, enabling autonomous circuit synthesis and system architecture optimization.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of innovative AI tools and methodologies for circuits and systems design automation.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools to enhance circuit synthesis and system architecture optimization.
  • Collaborate with a team of researchers and engineers to advance the state-of-the-art in AI-driven electronics design.
  • Contribute to the publication of research findings in top-tier journals and conferences.
  • Engage with industry partners to ensure the practical relevance and impact of your research.
Your Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Electronics, AI, or a closely related field, with a strong focus on circuits and systems design.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing AI tools for circuit design automation.
  • Familiarity with EDA tools and industry-standard design methodologies.
  • A track record of successful research publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
