Role Overview

This exciting opportunity is for a skilled nurse or midwife to join our Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health Service (LSRHS), a fully integrated service providing specialist sexual health services across four Community Health and Social Care Partnerships.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients requiring Genitourinary Medicine, HIV, Contraceptive, unplanned pregnancy, and gynaecological services. They will also have opportunities to develop their skills in areas such as Gender Identity, psychosexual problems, menopause, and other specialist fields within LSRHS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered care to patients with complex needs, utilizing a non-judgmental and empathetic approach.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and community partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and evidence-based guidelines in sexual and reproductive health.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to service development.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Post-registration qualification in sexual and reproductive health or willingness to undertake.
  • Minimum two years of post-registration experience, including some experience in sexual health or related areas.
  • Excellent communication and clinical consultation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours and travel to local clinics throughout Lothian.
Desirable Criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of contraceptive options for women.
  • Experience in using motivational interviewing (MI) techniques to promote behavior change.
