Position Overview: The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is seeking applications for the role of People Services Administrator. This position is available on both permanent and temporary bases, offering full-time opportunities with a commitment of 35 hours per week.

Role Responsibilities: The successful candidates will join a dedicated team within the People Directorate, contributing to the development and execution of SFRS People Services activities. This includes delivering an efficient, accurate, and timely end-to-end resourcing administration service. Key responsibilities include:

  • Administering and processing job vacancies, promotional campaigns, and selection processes through the electronic recruitment portal.
  • Handling administrative tasks related to vacancy creation, application shortlisting, selection testing, and interview scheduling.
  • Maintaining and updating SFRS systems, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with standard guidelines for effective reporting and governance.

Transactional Services Support: You will provide essential administrative support for various People transactional services, ensuring a best value approach. This includes managing processes related to:

  • Discipline & Grievance
  • Maternity, Paternity, and Adoption Arrangements
  • Contract Variations and Career Breaks
  • Flexible Working, Resignations, and Retirements

Modern Apprentice Programme Administration: Additionally, you will assist in the administration of the Modern Apprentice Programme and SVQ Centre functions, ensuring effective support for all aspects of SFRS MA SVQ activities.

Candidate Profile: Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Previous experience in a busy administrative environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and flexibility to meet deadlines.
  • Experience handling personal and confidential data with an understanding of Data Protection Legislation.
  • Proficiency in IT applications, particularly Office software.

Working Conditions: The standard working week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday, with a requirement to attend the office one day per week under a hybrid working model.
