Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our bulk transport business unit as a transport planner/operator. Our bulk transport business unit is a leading provider of bulk transport to the whisky and spirits industry.

Based at our head office, the role presents the opportunity to work within a strong and dedicated team gaining the skills and experience required to successfully operate the day-to-day transport operation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Transport Planning and Management: Effective management and planning of drivers, through ongoing communication and using our Transportation Management System (TMS) software.
  2. Resource Control: Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resources (vehicles, drivers, trailers); ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU Drivers' Hours regulations).
  3. Operational Efficiency: Control and execution of in-house planning tools and systems to manage workload and monitor efficiency.
  4. Fleet Compliance: Ensure fleet compliance is maintained at all times.
  5. Customer Relationships: Develop good working relationships with customers, keeping them fully informed and reacting positively and speedily to their needs.
  6. Driver Administration: Ensure all Drivers administration/management is in line with Regulations.
  7. Performance Targets: Understanding and achieving key performance targets relating to the safety and efficiency of our fleet (including utilization and costing).
  8. Regulatory Framework: Develop an understanding and experience of working with the Planning Regulatory framework, ensuring you keep up to date with policy and best practice as it develops.
Requirements:
  1. An exceptional knowledge of transport with previous planning experience of a large C&D fleet.
  2. Proficient IT skills with experience using Excel and transportation management systems.
  3. Knowledge of ADR regulations.
