Transport Planner/Operator Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our bulk transport business unit as a transport planner/operator. Our bulk transport business unit is a leading provider of bulk transport to the whisky and spirits industry.

Based at our head office in Springburn, Glasgow, the role presents the opportunity to work within a strong and dedicated team gaining the skills and experience required to successfully operate the day-to-day transport operation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Effective management and planning of drivers, through ongoing communication and using our TMS software.
  2. Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resource (vehicles, drivers, trailers); ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU Drivers' Hours regulations).
  3. Control and execution of in-house planning tools and systems to manage workload and monitor efficiency.
  4. Ensure fleet compliance is maintained at all times.
  5. To develop good working relationships with customers, keeping them fully informed and react positively and speedily to their needs.
  6. Ensure all Drivers administration/management is in line with Regulations.
  7. Understanding and achieving key performance targets relating to the safety and efficiency of our fleet (including utilisation and costing).
  8. Develop an understanding and experience of working with the Planning Regulatory framework, ensuring you keep up to date with policy and best practice as it develops.
Requirements:
  1. An exceptional knowledge of transport with previous planning experience of a large C&D fleet.
  2. Proficient IT skills with experience using Excel and transport management systems.
  3. Knowledge of ADR regulations.
