Position Overview

The University of Essex is committed to promoting sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. We are seeking a passionate individual to fill the role of Carbon and Energy Reduction Specialist. Reporting directly to the Head of Energy and Carbon Reduction, this position plays a crucial role in our mission to achieve net zero carbon emissions.

This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to design and implement effective energy and carbon reduction strategies. You will be tasked with creating a comprehensive Carbon Management Plan aimed at meeting our sustainability targets. Additionally, you will analyze data related to our facilities to identify opportunities for energy and carbon savings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting proposals for funding energy and carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Conducting feasibility assessments for economically viable projects to lower energy and carbon footprints.
  • Formulating internal project mandates and developing business cases.
  • Overseeing projects with budgets exceeding £1 million.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability or Energy is required.
  • A Level 5 qualification in relevant disciplines is preferred.
  • Project Management certification such as PRINCE2 or APM is advantageous.

The ideal candidate will be a driven professional with a solid history of project execution and budget management. A thorough understanding of energy markets, building systems, and compliance with regulations is essential. Compensation and Benefits

Salary: £45,585 - £54,395 annually.
