About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Energy Manager to join our Sustainability Section at the University of Essex. As a key member of our team, you will play a significant role in delivering our energy, carbon, and water reduction aspirations and strategies.

Working closely with our Head of Energy and Carbon Reduction, you will develop and implement policies and strategies to reduce our carbon footprint and achieve our net zero carbon emission targets by 2035. You will also work with colleagues across the University to develop complex built environments and analyze data to inform our sustainability initiatives.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement energy and carbon reduction policies and strategies.
  • Manage energy, carbon, and water projects valued up to and beyond £1m.
  • Provide feasibility studies and costed initiatives to reduce energy/carbon usage.
  • Create external funding bids for energy and carbon reduction projects.

Your Skills and Experience

  • BSc in Sustainability or Energy or equivalent essential.
  • Qualification Level 5 in Building Services, Mechanical, Electrical, and Building desirable.
  • Professionally qualified and hold a corporate membership desirable.
  • Training/qualification in Project Management such as PRINCE2 or APM desirable.
