About the Role

As a key member of the University of Essex's sustainability team, you will play a crucial role in driving the institution's energy, carbon, and water reduction aspirations. Reporting directly to the Head of Energy and Carbon Reduction, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the University's energy and carbon reduction policies and strategies.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement energy and carbon reduction policies and strategies.
  • Create and deliver a Carbon Management Plan to achieve the University's net zero carbon emission targets.
  • Work closely with colleagues to develop complex built environments across three campuses.
  • Develop and manage energy, carbon, and water projects valued up to and beyond £1m.

Your Skills and Qualifications

  • BSc in Sustainability or Energy or equivalent essential.
  • Qualification Level 5 in Building Services, Mechanical, Electrical, and Building desirable.
  • Professionally qualified and hold a corporate membership desirable.
  • Training/qualification in Project Management such as PRINCE2 or APM desirable.

About You

You are a highly motivated and driven individual with a proven track record of delivering projects over £100k in value. You have extensive experience managing revenue and capital budgets and knowledge of energy markets and energy purchasing. You will have considerable knowledge of M&E building systems, HVAC systems, BMS, electrical distribution, lighting, controls, metering, and the built environment.

Salary: Grade 9 - £45,585 - £54,395 per annum.
