About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team in a special secondary school in Portsmouth. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with complex learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safeguarding and Welfare: Ensure the safety and well-being of students, prioritizing their needs and providing a supportive environment.
  • Learning Support: Assist students with learning tasks, providing individualized support to help them achieve their personalized Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
  • Emotional Wellbeing and Communication: Support students in developing their emotional wellbeing and communication skills, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaboration with Teachers: Work under the guidance of teachers, supporting small groups of students and contributing to lesson planning and delivery.
Requirements
  • Experience and Qualifications: Have experience working with students with complex learning difficulties or a desire to gain experience in this area.
  • DBS and Safeguarding: Hold a valid DBS registration or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and other support staff.
