About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Transmission business as a Trainee Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in the field of energy engineering, working on a range of projects and tasks that will help you build a strong foundation for a successful career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Study towards a HNC and Diploma in Higher Education in Energy Engineering
  • Balance time on placements within Transmission, working on site and in the field, or alongside experienced SSE engineers and crafts people
  • Develop skills and knowledge in areas such as Low Voltage Switching, High Voltage Switching, and Network operation and maintenance
  • Manage jobs, including technical aspects, safety management, and supervision of crafts people
Requirements
  • Highly organized and self-driven with the ability to manage your time well
  • Flexible in your approach to work to maximize your chances of success
  • Comfortable to spend time living away from home while attending college or on placements
  • Meet the educational requirements, including a Scottish Higher at grade C or above in Maths or Physics, or equivalent qualifications
