About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Transmission business as a Trainee Engineer. As a Trainee Engineer, you will have the opportunity to study towards a HNC and Diploma in Higher Education in Energy Engineering, while gaining hands-on experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Balance academic study with work-based experience in our Transmission business
  • Work on placements within Transmission, including on-site and field work, and alongside experienced SSE engineers and craftspeople
  • Develop skills and knowledge in Low Voltage Switching and High Voltage Switching
  • Manage jobs, including technical aspects, safety management, and supervision of craftspeople
Requirements
  • Highly organized and self-driven with the ability to manage time well
  • Flexible approach to work to maximize chances of success
  • Comfortable with spending time living away from home while attending college or on placements
Education and Qualifications
  • 1 Scottish Higher at grade C or above in Maths or Physics OR
  • 1 A level at grade D or above in Maths or Physics OR
  • NC/NQ Engineering at SCQF level 6 or equivalent OR the completion of a Foundation Apprenticeship Engineering
