**Job Title:** Assistant Accountant

**Job Summary:** We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team at Pratap Partnership Ltd. as a support to the Head of Finance.

**About the Role:**

  • **Maintain the Purchase Ledger:** Ensure accurate and timely recording of all purchase transactions.
  • **Update and Maintain the Cashbook:** Record and reconcile all cash transactions, including bank statements and cash receipts.
  • **Bank Reconciliations:** Regularly reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • **Stock Accounting:** Maintain accurate records of stock levels, including receipts, issues, and adjustments.
  • **Intercompany Transactions:** Process and record all intercompany transactions, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • **Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations:** Reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • **Profit and Loss Variance Reporting:** Analyze and report on profit and loss variances to identify areas for improvement.
  • **Accruals and Prepayments:** Accurately record and account for accruals and prepayments.
  • **Preparation and Posting of Monthly Journals:** Prepare and post monthly journals to ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions.
  • **Monthly VAT Return:** Prepare and submit the monthly VAT return to HMRC.
  • **Update and Maintain the Fixed Asset Register:** Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of fixed assets, including purchases, disposals, and depreciation.

**Requirements:**

  • **Solid Understanding of Debits and Credits:** Essential for accurate recording and accounting.
  • **Experience of Working with Stock:** Desirable, but not essential.
  • **IT Literacy:** Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLookups, XLookups, and formulas.
  • **Sage Line 200 Experience:** Desirable, but not essential.
  • **Ability to Work Under Pressure:** Essential for meeting tight deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
  • **Accuracy and Attention to Detail:** Essential for maintaining accurate and reliable financial records.
